Plastic Injection Molding and Die-casting Applications

Sintered Vents

Choose your application:

Plastic Injection Mold Applications

Gravity and Low Pressure Die-Casting or Vacuum Casting

  • Vents save both time and money in design, production and in maintenance
  • Vents reduces occurrence of short-shots and burned parts
  • Vents available for both die-cast and plastic injection applications
  • KIC Sintered Vents are very cost effective

Sintered vents are composed of several straight and uniform pores made through a unique process. These pores allow air or gas which, get trapped inside the mold cavity during the injection or die casting process to escape freely. The vent acts like a release window for the air or gas to exit, while keeping in the molten material from escaping out.

The objective to a good mold design is to specify as many strategically placed insertion points on the prints to hold the vents, in order to reduce the possibility of creating defective parts.
